At Bello Puro, olive oil isn’t just what we make — it’s who we are.
Our olive grove has been owned by the family for many generations.
Our Great Grandmother, Nonna Rosella, said she would come back from the dead and curse us all if we ever sold our plot of land. As you can imagine, we feel compelled to keep the tradition going.
We’re a small, family-run business from the sun-soaked hills of Southern Italy. For generations, our family has tended the same grove of olive trees in the village of Chieuti, in the heart of Apulia. What began as oil for our own table — made with care, laughter, and long days in the fields — is now something we’re proud to share with the world.
We believe great food tells a story. And ours begins in the soil of our ancestors.
Our GROVE
Our olive oil is sourced from the grove you can see in the top picture in a small agricultural community called Chieuti located in Italy’s Apulia region, in the province of Foggia. Apulia borders Molise to the north, Campania to the west, Basilicata to the southwest, the Adriatic Sea to the east and the Ionian Sea to the southeast.
Apulia is located at the “stiletto” of the Italian peninsula. This region is mostly flat and the Tavoliere delle Puglie plain, covering a surface of c. 3,000 km2, is the second largest plain of the country. It is 221 metres above the sea level.
The lime soils and the dry climate of Apulia provide the very best climate for olive growing in Italy. The province of Foggia is recognised as providing some of the most fruity oils in all of Italy.
The community of Chieuti is not very large but very friendly. There are about 1.800 people who live here, called Chieutini. The last census showed 654 families so everyone pretty much knows everyone else.
